Standard Description of the Irish Fancy Canary  Head Small, narrow and neat, showing a slight frontal rise from a small beak. Eyes distinctly visible. Body Width across the shoulders 33 mm. Length 12.7 cm. The body is tapered in proportion. Wings closely folded. Showing neck. Plumage Close-fitting, compact and of good natural colour, displaying a clear outline. Movement Alert with quick and lively movements. Position on perch.65º to 75º. Tail Closely folded and well carried. Legs Of medium length, showing thighs. General Condition Clean and healthy. All colours are allowed, except red (colour-feeding is not permitted).

Furthermore the wrong size of the ring, a dirty bird or cage, as well as characters on the cage are reasons for an exclusion.
